Balloons

Can anyone tell me why this picture is so significant?

Let me tell you a little bit about Jace. He has a love/hate relationship with balloons.

At his first birthday party, we all made balloon people with helium balloons and stickers. He probably doesn't remember this and I don't think he even participated, but we do. That's my first memory of Jace with balloons.

One year, we went to the 4th of July fireworks put on by the Buna Volunteer Fire Department. He got a balloon and was walking around with it proudly. Little boys will be little boys and walking around holding it turned into punching it and almost hitting people with it. Mean Daddy ruined the fun by taking the balloon from Jace. When he said he was going to give it away to some other kid, Jace cried crocodile tears and everyone who knew Jace that passed by told Tyler to give it back. The kid hardly ever cried.

Once upon a time, he made a balloon buddy. He took it with him everywhere for a few days. Until he love it too much and popped it. Then he cried.

This year, he starts taking karate. One day they do exercises with balloons and his karate teachers lets them all take a balloon home. While Mallori's class is going on, some of the older kids blow up the rest of the balloons WAY to much. If they even hit the floor, the popped. Jace starts crying and holding his years. His love of balloons ended right then and there.

We went to the Dinosaur Day at the Energy Museum in Beaumont. He hears a balloon pop and is done for the day. Ready to go home. Looking all around to make sure there aren't any more.

We go to Aunt Lauren's birthday party. He starts crying as soon as they bring in the balloons and spends the entire party locked in a different room.

During his Easter party at school, a little girl tries to get him to hold a balloon because everyone else has one. Determined not to cry in front of his friends, he hides behind my back and tells her repeatedly no. At the park that day, he gave his balloon punching bag away.

I can't tell you how many times we had to go outside and pop balloons that were given to them, or make Mallori keep hers in her room. Do you know where all you find balloons? They are EVERYWHERE! We finally showed him that helium balloons aren't as loud when they pop. He even missed out on a fun water balloon game with his friend Bryce at the putt putt place. I played but he stayed a little house they had and cried. All because of balloons.

Now back to these pictures.

I guess he's over it again. Mallori brought home balloons from a birthday party she went to. At first he wanted her to pop them. Then when we wouldn't, he came around. It was even his idea to draw faces on them to make balloon buddies! He played with it for at least a solid hour. I guess we're back to loving balloons!

**Please ignore his pajamas of choice. His Transformer costume for Halloween is getting a little more use. He loves that thing!
