New Adventures

We've started a new adventure in the Anderson household. We're adding another family member! It's been a long time since I've posted anything, (years actually) so I'm not going to try and catch up. However, I wanted to capture this important time in our lives! Who knows, maybe I'll keep it up!

We found out we were expecting a new little bundle of joy on Thursday, September 20th. The newest member of our family is set to arrive around May 19, 2013. Nana is hoping he or she holds out one day and can share a birthday with her!

As soon as we found out, we put plans in place to tell all of our family and friends. First, I went over to Kelley's house and made Mallori and Jace shirts that said "Big Sister Again" and "Big Brother." She had pretty much figured out what I was up to, but didn't officially know until I told her what to put on Jace's shirt.

Next, I took Carla to Beaumont to go shopping with me. We went to ToysRUs and I pulled into the Stork Parking for Expectant Mothers. Carla pointed out that it wasn't a normal parking spot and asked "you're not expecting, are you?" I looked over at her and she knew. We were giggling and jumping up and down in the car like crazy people, so we went to another store. A lady was looking at us funny! Then we spent the rest of the afternoon baby shopping! For everything boy that I touched, she made me touch something really girly. We can hope right?

We told the kids that night by presenting their shirts to them. We didn't say anything, just let them read it. We caught their reaction on video so I'll have to see if I can post it. Mallori was super excited and got it right away. I think Jace was in shock! But as soon as the shock wore off, the was thrilled.

After we told the kids, we had them put their shirts on and then we went to Nana's. We told the kids not to say anything. They were grinning so big (and getting along) that she knew they were up to something! She finally read their shirts and it clicked. We went out to Pawpaw's shop to show him also. He didn't read the shirts until we finally pointed it out to him and then he thought about the show Big Brother. Not quite!!

Saturday, after soccer and football, we went to see Gramma and Mr. Ricky. Aunt Ashley came over also to see us. The kids changed out of their jerseys and into their new shirts. Gramma read Jace's first and asked if it was the TV show. When we shook our heads no, Aunt Ashley came running over to hug us! I think she and Baby Charlotte are excited!

Labor Day Weekend

Yea a three day weekend. And what NO plans!?! Not one single one? Double yea! Or maybe triple yea!

I managed to get off early on Friday and had enough time to pick up Jace from school. He was surprised and it took him a minute to figure out which car to go to! He says I was also pulled up in the wrong spot…

From school, we went and signed him up for Extreme Soccer. After two years of waiting, he can finally play! He’s very excited and practices using his basketball as a soccer ball. Somehow at the house, we have two basketballs but no soccer balls. I think we need to correct this soon! We hung out at the house Friday night and made plans to go to the farmer’s market first thing Saturday morning.

The farmer’s market is held every Saturday until October 30 in the parking lot of the downtown public library in Beaumont. We have wanted to check it out so with nothing else on the agenda, we went for it! We ended up with 2 kinds of home-made bread, a jar of pickles, 7 or 8 canning pears, and a watermelon. Mama went with us and bought even more stuff. We had a delicious supper that night: fried okra, fried green tomatoes, fried long-horn cutlets, corn, and rosemary bread. Delicious! …Not healthy, but delicious!

I did a lot of reading on Saturday while I encouraged Jace to play by himself. I’ve never seen a kid that would rather stare at me than get his toys and play. At one point, he was willing to go through his toys and give some away as long as I’d do it with him! Ummm, No! Not how I want to spend my weekend!! He finally found a dart gun and started shooting things outside. That was fun until it got stuck on the roof!

Sunday was Tyler’s and my first attempt at teaching Sunday School. I think it went well. Since it was Labor Day weekend, we only had 3 other people in the class. Well, I hope it was because it was Labor Day weekend! They might have run for the hills when they found out we’d be teaching! Sunday was concluded with an afternoon nap and then more reading for me. My boss gave me the second book in a trilogy and I was hooked!! It was one of those you couldn’t stop reading.

Monday was a pajama day!! Naturally, Jace was excited. He loves pajama days (basically, he stays in his pj’s all day) because it means he doesn’t have to go anywhere! I don’t know where he gets it from, but he’s definitely a homebody!!!

It lasted almost all day. He started karate again so he changed into his gi, went to karate, came home, took a shower, and got back into pajamas! During the day, we played a game of Phase 10 Dice and Jace won, again. Not just by a little either! This kid is lucky. Think I could smuggle him into a casino? He must have all the luck that Tyler and I don’t! Maybe he can at least pick the lotto numbers…. it’s worth a shot right?!?!?!

...we had our first end of the school year party for Mallori after Pre-K?
...we took Jace to the circus?
...Mallori started kindergarten?
...we evacuate for Gustav and then stayed for Ike?
...Mallori played her first session of soccer?
...Jace tried to shoot a gun for the first time?
...Mallori's carnival party!?!?!
...it snowed for the first time in Southeast Texas in forever?
...the kids got their 4-wheeler?
...I had Lauren take our family pictures at Tyrell park in our cereal shirts? (Maybe it's time to retire that shirt! I think I've worn it at least once every weekend since then!)

I guess it has!
