Weekend Adventures

You never know what you are going to end up doing when you show up to the farm. It's become one of my favorite places to go. Our own special escape.

Where the kids play outside all day, get filthy dirty, run around with cows and dogs and just have a blast doing whatever.

This trip was supposed to be a fishing expedition. And a fishing expedition it was!! We went to 3 or 4 ponds and casts hundreds of times..

Ok I use the term "we" loosely! I stood on the bank and took pictures the whole time. I'm not a big fisher-woman! This was as close to fishing as I came.

Well that and sticking my hand in the cooler to catch 2 minnows for Mallori.

Jace and Tyler caught one fish each. Ashley caught 3 and Mallori.. well Mallori played in the water and mud!

Of course, a trip to the farm wouldn't be complete without Pawpaw's cows! We call them his pets.

And Pawpaw had to put Uncle Jeffrey and Tyler to work!

Mallori and Jace even got to try their hands at working cows after they were branded!

All in all... one fun weekend for everyone!!!

Cops & Robbers

One day a couple of weeks ago, the kids decided to go out and play cops and robbers.

Mallori packed the loot, a suitcase fully of money (literally!) and Jace strapped on his policeman gear.

I of course, grabbed my camera and sat back to watch the show...

First, the robber would take the suitcase and run.

Somewhere along the way, the robber decided the loot wasn't worth it, it was to heavy. He (or she as the case may be) would then drop the suitcase full of money and keep running.

This confused the cops, who didn't know whether to leave the loot and run after the robber, or take the loot back to safety.

Usually, it resulted in the cop carrying the loot around.. sometimes running off with it herself!

Then the cop would close in on the criminal... just about got him!

Sometimes the robber was apprehended without a fight...
...and then brought to jail.
Other times, there was confrontation...
...and teasing... ...which resulted in a little police brutality.
At the end of the day though, the good guy always won!
And it was off to play again!!

Conversations At Sonic

Me: Jace, what do you want to eat?
Jace: What do they have? (like the kid has never been to Sonic!)
Me: Hamburger, Corn Dog, Hot Dog, or Chicken Strips
Jace: Hot Dog
Me: The one with a stick?
Jace: Yes! (Me - mental note to order a corn dog and teach the kid the difference!)
Me: Ok what for a side? Fries, Tater Tots, Banana or Apples
Jace: WOW.. .they have apples now?
Me: Yes... (remember the kid who didn't know what they had before)
Jace: OK! A banana!

Tyler and I were dying laughing and Jace couldn't figure out why...

And in case you're wondering... he got "cow milk" to drink...

School Days

Since the kids are now starting their third week of school, I decided it was a good time to go ahead and let everyone know how they are doing! Mallori is in first grade in Ms. Gardner's class.

Both of the kids seem to really be enjoying school this year. So far no color changes for either one! Mallori hammed it up for her first day of school pictures. The lighting was a little off though, her hair turned out bright red in all of the pictures we took outside (looked like I died it with food coloring!) You have to love Photoshop!

See the bee on her shirt in the picture below? That's to remind her to bee sure to remember her manners. I think it worked until the end of school when the teacher's saw her mom and called her and Laci. From what I hear, there were major waterworks from both of the girls. We had to have a little discussion on appropriate behavior in the car pick up line. We also told her to tell the teacher's that ____ was picking her up today. We made sure she understood that no one else can keep up with her crazy schedule!

Along with a little threat from Daddy that he would personally go pick her up every day if she did it again, I think it worked! It only happened that first day. Here's Daddy walking her into school the first day, and a picture at her desk.

Jace is starting pre-school at All Faith's in Silsbee. In true Jace form, he walked right in and made himself at home. He spoke to his teacher, found his seat, and started working on a puzzle. Once he was finished with that, he helped two little girls clean up their mess and then we we went outside to check out the playground.

He was a super good sport and let me take lots of pictures on his meet the teacher day.

However, the little toot told me I could only take one picture of him the first day of school...

Good thing Mommy is quick with her camera!

On the first day of school I asked them each a few questions. I thought it would be neat to see how their answers change over the years!
